Concert halls take walk-ins — the seats nobody buys

Big arena shows sell out in minutes and need a Korean phone number. Concert halls do not. Classical, dance, traditional music and theatre run all year with seats left on the day, often for less than a cinema ticket. Links to the official box offices.

The halls, and what is on tonight

One complex holds most of Seoul's classical and dance programme, and one government database lists every registered performance in the country. Between them you can find something on almost any evening.

Where the free programmes come from

A lot of the free culture programming — passes, discount weeks, open days — is funded centrally and announced on a government page that almost nobody reads.

Culture month and free-admission periods are announced here first. Set a reminder rather than hoping to see a post about it.

Saturday performances are priced for people who are just curious. This is the source K-pop producers keep sampling.

Same-day and student discounts are usually only on the Korean pages. Browser translation is enough to find them, and the box office staff will help once you are there.
